JC Community eHealth Care Project
Multi-Component Intervention Programme
To enable older people to live and age healthily, the CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing designed the “Multi-Component Intervention Programme” to build and maintain older people’s intrinsic capacity, as well as to help them prevent frailty.
As part of the of the Multi-Component Intervention Programme, the following video introduces a set of full-body exercises called the “Ten Essentials”, which was designed to train older people’s upper, core, and lower body muscles, thereby improving their muscle mass and physical performance.

JC Age-friendly City Project - p6_resources_r_sub03
Age-friendly Community and the Decade of Healthy Ageing
Resources
The Institute has developed a vast variety of resources and widely distributed to cross-sectoral stakeholders (i.e. policy makers public sector and other community stakeholders) and the public, in raising their awareness on age-friendly issues and facilitating them taking forward the age-friendly city campaign in the long-run. In the following sections, we broadly categorize these resources according to their media formats (i.e., publication vs. video), and respectively give a brief summary on their contents.
Happy Ageing – Eight domains of an Age-friendly City
The videos introduces the eight domains of an age-friendly city and shares age-friendly good practices by domains, aiming to promote the implementation and development of age-friendly initiatives, encourage community participation and cultivate age-friendly culture in building a sustainable age-friendly city.

Exercises at home for the elderly
Regular exercise helps prevent frailty. This series of videos demonstrate 4-step training suitable for older people, namely (1) warm up exercise, (2) training exercise (i.e. “resistance training” to train muscles, “balance training” to reduce fall risk, and “circuit training” to enhance muscles building and cardio fitness), (3) cool down exercise, and (4) stretching exercise, as well as introduce the safety tips. The videos were demonstrated by the certified physical trainer and older people who participated in Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project – Active Ageing Programme 2020.
