To build up Hong Kong into an age-friendly city, CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing held the Jockey Club Age-friendly City International Conference cum City Partnership Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony on 7 June 2021 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Under the theme of “Age-friendly Cities 15 years On: Origins and Best Practices Worldwide and in Hong Kong”, the event provided a platform for the government, business sector, academia, non-profit sector and social enterprises in Hong Kong and overseas to share and exchange the knowledge and best practices in building an age-friendly city, as well as enhancing future collaboration and sustainable development.
At the Conference, Professor Jean Woo, Director of The CUHK Jockey Club Institute of Ageing, shared the topic of “Age-friendly communities: A cornerstone for healthy ageing and tackling health inequalities”. Q & A session and Closing Remarks chaired by Professor Woo was subsequently followed, where speakers and stakeholders had an inspirational discussion on the cooperation and participation towards sustainability in an Age-friendly city. In addition to the sharing of overseas and local speakers, exhibitions were also organized to display the information of the programmes which promoted age-friendly city in the 18 districts in Hong Kong.
